The village of Uley and its surroundings have dozens of public footpaths running through the area and several bridleways for horse riding. So there are lots of lovely walks in the local area which you can use for yourselves and your dogs. The village is located in the bottom of a small valley in a hilly area and many walks take you through woods. Some walks look out over the Severn Valley and you have wonderful views across to the Welsh hills beyond.
From Sheppards Mill you can immediately access the public footpath network and you are straight onto local fields and the woods and hill beyond. You do not need to drive to access good walks unless you want to explore walks further away. Many public footpaths have kissing gates on them or styles with dog gates so that you have good dog walking opportunities. And the village is very dog friendly - you will see a wide range of breeds and sizes being walked!
The Cotswold Way passes by the village so serious walkers can also utilise the cottage as a stopping place on their way along.
